   Volunteers

The Diocese of Allentown's Background Check policy, effective 10/1/2004, revised 11/2012, revised 9/25/2015 requires the following criminal background checks for all volunteers having direct contact with children:  PA State Police Criminal Record check, PA Child Abuse certificate, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint check.  The Commonwealth of PA requires these background checks be repeated every 5 years.  In addition to the state required clearances, the diocese adheres to the Safe Environment program mandated by the United States Conference of Bishops' Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

Outlined below is a list of requirements necessary to volunteer here at St. Francis de Sales.  All forms and certificates of completion should be submitted to the office.

All volunteers must complete a Mandated Reporter course.  This can be completed online at www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu or in-person.  For those individuals who do not have access to a computer to complete the course, the Diocese of Allentown hosts Live 3-hour training sessions that you may attend.  The Diocese’s in-person training sessions are the Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance Training approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  There is a fee of $5.00 for each person attending the live training.   Please check our bulletin or the Diocese of Allentown website www.allentowndiocese.org for a list of upcoming sessions and how to register.
